Nominations must also include the nominee’s curriculum vitae (or similar biographical information) and any other documents or supporting materials for the panel to consider. Please email nominations to firstname.lastname@example.org by the deadline.
Nominations for the award are evaluated on the basis of (1) the significance or importance of the nominee’s scholarly contributions to the field of the history of pharmacy and pharmaceuticals; (2) the quality and quantity of the nominee’s published scholarly writings in the field of the history of pharmacy and pharmaceuticals; (3) the span of time over which the nominee has made contributions to the field of the history of pharmacy and pharmaceuticals; and (4) the nominee’s other contributions to the field of the history of pharmacy and pharmaceuticals (such as exceptional service to professional organizations or publications or outstanding contributions to education).
A panel comprised of the Institute’s Historical Director and four other distinguished historians of pharmacy and pharmaceuticals will judge nominations for the George Urdang Medal. AIHP expects to announce the recipient of the 2021 George Urdang Medal in the fall. Further information about the George Urdang Medal is available on AIHP’s website where you can also read a list of past winners of the George Urdang Medal.
