Call for Contributing Editors at Points

Points has opened applications for five new Contributing Editors to join the team.

Contributing Editors are required to conceptualise and author eight blog posts per year, between 750-1500 words on matters regarding drug and alcohol history and/or contemporary drug and alcohol cultures. For this, each Contributing Editor receives an annual honorarium of USD 500.00.

Points would like to take this opportunity to expand the diversity of content shared on the blog, and encourage that applications for Contributing Editors are from individuals who are able to write informed posts which specifically address drug and alcohol histories/cultures of one of the geographical regions outlined below:

  1. Africa
  2. America, specifically regarding Native American/Native Indian drug or alcohol cultures
  3. Australasia
  4. East Asia
  5. Europe (including UK or Ireland).
  6. Middle East
  7. South Asia

SHAD Seeking Book Review Editor

The journal Social History of Alcohol and Drugs (SHAD), published by University of Chicago Press, is seeking a Book Review Editor. This position entails commissioning, selecting, and editing book reviews for publication in the journal’s bi-annual publication cycle. This position fills an important role in the journal’s editorial team, helping to ensure that SHAD provides scholarly reviews of the newest monographs in the field.

We are especially interested in providing reviews that cover wide temporal and geographical ranges, as well as a diversity of topics related to alcohol and drug history. We are currently in particular need of expertise in fields beyond modern Europe and North America. The Book Review Editor will join a small team of other Review Editors who meet virtually several times each year. This is a virtual position and is not limited by geography.

Two quick notes before we get back to grilling and sparklers:

First, the Social History of Alcohol and Drugs is looking for a book review editor.

As the editors seek to diversify the journal, book review editors from non-Anglo-North American perspectives are wanted for SHAD. The book review editor will help manage the flow of books and reviews, including identifying titles for review, populating a list of books, securing appropriate reviewers, and overseeing the timely completion of reviews.
